Wow, how the time has flown! I’m three months into serving as Tabor’s new President! It’s been a whirlwind that has left me energized, curious, and optimistic about what lies ahead. Before I blink and suddenly I’m a year in, I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to our blog audience and share a few highlights of my time here.
First, who am I and why did I come to Tabor?
Service to others has always been a priority for me, starting from the time I was a kid. Growing up in Philly and its suburbs, I was fortunate to have parents and early role models who first introduced me to the challenges in our community, like hunger and homelessness.
Professionally I have worked on human rights issues, childhood hunger, and poverty in Lancaster. Most recently I was the COO at Community Action Partnership here in Lancaster. There I had a chance to work on multiple exciting projects like the Empower Lancaster countywide information-sharing system, the launch of new programs and services, and a restructure of the agency that set us up to better meet our mission.
Tabor felt like the right next step for a few reasons. My faith inspires me to do this social justice work, and I felt a kinship with Tabor’s founders and heritage. I was drawn to its history and mission of responding to a community need in housing access and designing programs that give people the inspiration and skills to achieve their housing and financial goals. I was excited at the prospect of serving at the helm of a storied organization and leading it into a new chapter.
Second, what am I thinking about now that I’m here?
I am filled with gratitude that I am Tabor’s new president. I want to keep you updated on my experience here, so look for future blog posts from me every month! If you have questions or feedback, feel free to email me at email@example.com.
