Tabor Announces New President

Tabor announced today that Michael F. McKenna has accepted the position of President of Tabor Community Services, Inc. Mike comes to Tabor with years of experience working to mitigate poverty and promote self-sufficiency. He most recently served as Chief Impact/Operations Officer at Community Action Partnership of Lancaster County, where he previously served as Director of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program. Prior to moving to Lancaster, Mike was the Assistant Director of Poverty Concerns and Faith Connections at the Center for Community Service and Justice of Loyola University Maryland, and he was Field Manager/Service Coordinator for the No Kid Hungry Campaign. He has a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.

Mike felt called to apply for this role because of Tabor’s mission and history. He said, “I am thrilled to lead the talented team at Tabor Community Services and continue the work of connecting low-income Lancastrians to better housing and more stable financial futures. The Lancaster community is uniquely positioned to significantly reduce poverty in the next decade, and Tabor is a critical driver of that progress. I look forward to working closely with our staff, volunteers, board, donors and many community partners on this next chapter in our storied 50 year history!”

Mike lives in Lititz with his wife and young daughter. Mike will start his duties on Monday, October 8, 2018. Jill M. Laskowitz, Chair of the Tabor Board, said, “We sought a leader who would serve our clients with compassion, collaborate with other providers in our community to tackle poverty, communicate clearly and honestly, and who has emotional intelligence. Mike embodies all of these qualities. This is an exciting time for Tabor!”

Tabor is a non-profit provider of housing and financial counseling and education services for Lancaster County residents. With 50 staff and an operating budget of $4.3 million this year the organization will serve 5,000 clients through its 18 programs and services.
