After completing a four month internship at Tabor Community Services, I graduated from Millersville University in August, 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. During my internship, I gained firsthand knowledge of working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness, their needs, and their barriers. In September of 2015, I began working as a Housing Location Specialist at Tabor Community Services. Since then, I have learned a great deal more about affordable housing, working with people to overcome their barriers, and working with landlords to find the right tenant. While I never expected my journey through social work to take me into the housing field, I truly enjoy the work I do at Tabor Community Services. Being able to work alongside an individual or families, struggling with housing barriers, and seeing them succeed at that next step to self-sufficiency is very inspiring.
