Guy Boyer, the Community Homeless Outreach Worker employed by Tabor Community Services, was given the Good News Award at Water Street Mission’s Awards Dinner on Thursday, September 29.
As the Community Homeless Outreach Worker, Boyer seeks out and engages with those in Lancaster City and County experiencing homelessness who are living in places not meant for human habitation, such as their car, in a park or woods or on the street or are in emergency shelters. He encourages them to move beyond any barriers they may have to seeking help and connects them with housing programs and supportive services to assist them in finding and maintaining stable/permanent housing.
The Good News Award goes to someone whose work with people experiencing homelessness in Lancaster helps to bring to them hope and encouragement that they can improve their lives. Tabor’s President, Bob Thomas, speaks for his staff when he says, “We all know from our experience with Guy he has that effect on others and it was very nice to see Water Street recognize that gift.”
