Tabor and Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership (LHOP) are proposing to merge
Tabor Community Services and Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership (LHOP) are two strong non-profit leaders offering similar but complementary solutions to the affordable housing challenges in our community.
With the affordable housing crisis in the backdrop, each agency independently underwent strategic planning last summer. Guided by the important question of “What is best for our clients? How can we improve outcomes for them and our community?”—an innovative thought emerged about how impactful a merger could be for our community.
Through careful reflection, our leadership has concluded emphatically that we can deliver better services and ultimately more powerful results by joining forces.
As a valued partner, we want to share exciting news with you. Both Tabor and LHOP’s boards recently voted to approve a proposed merger of our two organizations.
Tabor and LHOP’s shared commitment to the notion that “everyone deserves a place to call home,” trusted reputations, and our existing institutional and fiscal strengths led us to believe we could be stronger together. This proposed union will form one go-to entity for all things housing and financial empowerment in our community.
Through this proposed merger, our programs and services that the community has come to know and value will remain. Changes will streamline access for clients and create a better continuum of services that will offer more comprehensive solutions to the very serious challenges our neighbors face every day.
This improved continuum of services means we will be able to demonstrate increased return on investment for our funders, both financially and programmatically. Each dollar invested is leveraging many other funding sources. Our new structure reduces overhead. And our greater capacity for compliance and evaluation will ensure better tracking of client outcomes.
We are honored to build off the foundation of 75 years of service and innovation in housing advocacy and financial empowerment that this proposed merger represents.
