Tabor and Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership (LHOP) Merger on Schedule

Tabor Community Services and Lancaster Housing Opportunity Partnership (LHOP), two strong non-profit leaders offering different but complementary solutions to the affordable housing challenges in our community are pleased to report that their merger is on schedule. 

Recently the final local approval was received, making the legal steps bringing the two organizations together now complete. 

The organization is now in the process of starting a rebranding process and merging board and staff. The mission of the combined organization is to spark the power in ALL people to achieve equitable housing and financial security. Our vision is to be the trusted community partner innovatively building wealth and achieving quality, fair and affordable housing FOR ALL, through proactive coaching, education, lending and advocacy.

The Board and staff are excited that these combined forces will deliver better services and ultimately more powerful results for our community. 

The organization is commitment to the notion that “everyone deserves a place called home,” to continue having a trusted reputation and institutional and fiscal strength. It aims to be the go-to entity for all things housing and financial empowerment in our community.

The programs and services that the community has come to know and value will remain. Changes will streamline access for clients and create a better continuum of services that will offer more comprehensive solutions to the very serious challenges that our neighbors face every day.

This improved continuum of services means the new organization will be able to demonstrate increased return on investment for funders, both financially and programmatically. Each dollar invested is leveraging many other funding sources. The new structure reduces overhead. And the greater capacity for compliance and evaluation will ensure better tracking of client outcomes.

The new combined organization with build off the foundation of 75 years of service and innovation in housing advocacy and financial empowerment. It will have a comprehensive array of programs and services including: a certified CDFI in Lancaster County with a 25-year history of making a positive impact by assisting people access and create fair and affordable housing, targeted education and training programs, financial products, and technical assistance in fair and affordable home ownership and rental housing opportunities,  coordinated assessment and rapid re-housing for those experiencing homelessness, homelessness prevention, transitioning sheltered persons to permanent housing and supportive housing; budget, consumer credit, first-time home buyer and mortgage default counseling, matched savings and financial literacy education and specialized programs which serve the specific needs of veterans, disabled persons, individuals experiencing mental illness, and women exiting prison.
