Barshinger Financial Empowerment Center for Lancaster County (BFEC) will soon offer in-person financial counseling services in Paradise, PA. Services include financial assessments, assistance to develop a workable household budget, a personalized action plan to help people achieve their goals, help with reviewing and understanding one’s credit report and how to improve credit scores, effective strategies for paying down debt, counseling to buy a home, and on-going financial coaching to help people stay on track and make needed adjustments as life changes. Learning to live again

Barbara is a single mother who after two years of sobriety, relapsed. Subsequently she was charged with drug possession and was sentenced to 3 months in Lancaster County Prison. During that time her daughter Izabella was taken from her and put in custody of Children & Youth Services. Barbara’s parents are now fostering Izabella. She has visitation with Izabella once a week, and because of the goals she has reached believes she will soon have more frequent visitations. Before leaving Lancaster County Prison, Barbara was interviewed by Lenara from Tabor to learn if she would be a candidate for the Beth Shalom program. Continuing the legacy

As a counselor for Family Service in Lancaster, Dennis Clemmer admired Tabor from a distance and always thought highly of the organization. When he left Family Service and joined North Group Consultants, Dennis inquired about serving on Tabor’s Board of Directors. He was invited to join and served as a member of the board for 9 years, the last two as chair. “It was during this time,” says Dennis, “that I became convinced that this was a worthwhile organization that I wanted to support financially.” After joining the board, Dennis attended many of the Annual Banquets, often inviting guests to hear about Tabor.
