Gina and her 16 year-old daughter were staying at a local shelter. Their rapid re-housing program referred her to Tabor’s Community Housing Solutions program (CHS), where she met with Andrea, one of the Housing Location Specialists. “Andrea was very good,” recalls Gina. “She was quick and she knew what she was doing. What is Community Housing Solutions?

How can we house more people experiencing homelessness quickly and more cost-effectively? That is what the Lancaster County Coalition to End Homelessness (LCCEH), Lancaster City, Lancaster County, and the United Way wanted to accomplish when they decided to try having one unified housing location service for all rapid re-housing programs in Lancaster County. Program Spotlight - Financial & Homeownership Counseling

The Ann B. Barshinger Financial Empowerment Center for Lancaster County, a division of Tabor, offers financial and homeownership counseling services, and financial education workshops. Counseling services are provided using a client-centered “holistic” model that is comprehensive and encourages follow-up client engagement with Tabor’s certified financial counselors. We counsel clients who want: help with getting consumer debt under control; help understanding their credit report and improving their credit; basic personal financial management coaching; a structured savings program to build financial stability; assistance with student loan debt; to buy their first home, are in danger of losing

Yvonne was always interested in finances. Before joining Tabor, she worked at Fulton Bank and listened to a program on WDAC radio called Crown Ministries which was about money management. It was there she heard about Consumer Credit Counseling and she thought, “That would be kind of cool to work at something like that.” She didn’t know the job would actually pay, but she was curious enough to check out Lancaster’s Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) which was a division of Tabor Community Services.
