In 2011, Lauren was first charged with assault and put on probation. While on probation in 2013, Lauren started using drugs … again. She first started smoking pot and drinking when she was 17. She stopped using drugs during her first pregnancy. On parole she tried pills and then heroin a couple months before she was pregnant with her second child and continued until two weeks before her daughter, Layla, was born. Lauren went to prison, was released into recovery and was clean for 9 months. Then, while her grandmother was taking care of Layla, Lauren was coming to the house to pick up Layla and saw an ambulance and police cars in front of the house. Tabor Community Services, Inc. is a non-profit housing and financial counseling agency serving residents of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Tabor’s programs strive to prevent and respond to homelessness, counsel those struggling to manage their personal finances, and assist those who aspire to homeownership. Tabor serves over 4,600 Lancaster County residents annually. Linda Fahnestock (on the left pictured with Loretta Hertzog at the Piano & Voices Concert at Highland Presbyterian Church) has volunteered for Tabor since she retired in 2003. It's starting to get colder and you might be thinking of turning your heat on in the house. When the time comes to change the thermostat to "HEAT", keep these ideas in mind to save energy and save money. 1. Close all of your window shades at night. 2. During the day, open shades of windows that get direct sunlight. 3. Only run the washer and dryer with a full load. Use cold water for laundry. Trying to revive the ghosts of Christmas past can be cost effective but challenging.
