New initiative - Community Housing Solutions

Earlier this year, the Lancaster County Coalition to End Homelessness selected Tabor to launch this new initiative on their behalf. Tabor will be creating a new county-wide system to help people with housing barriers to find permanent housing that will also continue to engage and support landlords, as we have in the past. We are calling this initiative Community Housing Solutions – Connecting Landlords and Tenants (CHS). Tabor will now be providing housing search and advocacy services not only to clients in Tabor’s Shelter to Independent Living (STIL) program, but also those in rapid re-housing programs at the YWCA and DVS (Domestic Violence Services), and a new organization called ECHOS (El

Jerrica got into trouble by hanging out with the wrong people, kids who were using drugs and stealing. “I wasn’t doing anything,” she admits. “I was bored.” Retail theft and probation violation led to jail where she served three months. Tabor staff receives award

Guy Boyer, the Community Homeless Outreach Worker employed by Tabor Community Services, was given the Good News Award at Water Street Mission’s Awards Dinner on Thursday, September 29. As the Community Homeless Outreach Worker, Boyer seeks out and engages with those in Lancaster City and County experiencing homelessness who are living in places not meant for human habitation, such as their car, in a park or woods or on the street or are in emergency shelters. He encourages them to move beyond any barriers they may have to seeking help and connects them with housing programs and supportive services to assist them in finding and maintaining stable/permanent housing.
