TLC.mentor@yahoo.com On Feb 8, 2009, TLC was awarded the Trinity Challenge Grant of $5000 to assist us in starting our new Mentoring Program. The award is given annually to a non-profit that best fits Trinity's pre-established criteria which are: that it is a new initiative, addresses the needs of our most at-risk populations, helps the recipients move toward self-support, and empowers those in need to be full participants in the economic, social, and cultural life of the community. They sent out 29 invitations and received a record 14 responses. They narrowed those to the 5 that best fit our criteria and then our committee members picked 3 that were visited one afternoon. After careful consultation Trinity Lutheran chose one. This year's winner, the Transitional Living Center's, Mentoring Program. We thank Trinity for the faith they have shown in our initiative. We need your help as mentors, if interested in becoming a mentor or learning more about the program please refer to the announcement in the newsletter.
