TLC Serves the Lancaster community in ending homelessness 5 ways:

  1. Family Emergency Shelter Program helps fill a need in the community by providing 5 rooms for families. Last year TLC assisted 29 families and 90 children with their goal of obtaining permanent, sustainable housing.

  2. Veterans' Victory House (VVH) collaborates with the Veterans' Administration, providing 17 rooms for veterans and their families. More than 95 men, women, and families have participated in TLC's VVH program.

  3. Re-Entry Management Organization (RMO): Collaborating with RMO, TLC
provides housing and case management for those leaving the prison system
by working with other agencies to assist their reentry into society.

  4. General Homeless Population: The remaining rooms are provided to the
general population of Lancaster experiencing homelessness, including single men and women, couples, and families. Referrals come from social service agencies, houses of worship and TLC's bi-monthly orientations.

  5. Community Homeless Outreach: Responding to a need identified by the Lancaster County Coalition to End Homelessness and the United Way, a Community Homeless Outreach Worker was hired. Based at TLC, our Outreach Worker reaches out to those experiencing homelessness in our community to connect them to services that can assist them in their goal of obtaining permanent, sustainable housing.

Transitional Living Center (TLC), a 52 room short-term housing facility is staffed 24 hours/365 days a year by 9 program assistants. The focus of the TLC program is to end the cycle of homelessness and each household must be committed to the goal of finding permanent housing upon enrollment into the TLC program.

TLC residents work one-on-one with their TLC caseworkers to develop a step-by-step plan to obtain permanent, sustainable housing. This plan includes a working budget and referrals to other services and resources including education, employment, and/or recovery, if needed, that will help them obtain sustainable, permanent housing.

Additionally, TLC's Life Long Learning classes offer participants the opportunity for personal and professional development. Last year, 231 classes were held with 591 participants. Classes included Stress and Anger Management, Parenting, Recovery Promotions, Women and Men's Christian Support, Landlord/Tenant Rights & Responsibilities, Budgeting and Legal Issues.
