  1. Does the Rental Counseling to Prevent Homelessness Program have money for me?
No. Unfortunately, the RCPH Program does not have funding for your housing needs. Our case management program helps you by assisting you in discovering what resources are available for you within the community and your individual social system.

  2. Does Tabor have emergency housing?
Tabor does not have emergency shelter housing. Tabor has a few transitional and supportive housing opportunities that have specific eligibility criteria. The goal of the Rental Counseling to Prevent Homelessness Program is to help you remain in your current housing.

  3. Why does a family become homeless?
Families face impending homelessness for a number of reasons; each family has a unique story with unique needs. Some issues may precipitate issues with rental housing stability including: financial strain, lack of affordable housing, communication difficulty between landlord/tenant, changes in employment/income, challenges with children, physical or mental disabilities, just to name a few.

  4. If I am doubled up with friends and family, can RCPH find housing for me?
Probably not. Generally, if you are doubled up with friends and family you do not fit the eligibility criteria for the RCPH Program since you are not renting housing.

  5. If I wait until I am about to be locked out of my apartment, can the RCPH Program help?
If you are facing a lock-out within a day or two, referrals to other social service agencies, legal help and shelters may be a better fit. Remember, early intervention is the key. If you anticipate changes in your housing status weeks in advance, a referral for RCPH services is appropriate.
