Rental Counseling
Rental Counseling to Prevent
Homelessness provides the tools and compassion to save families
who are at-risk of becoming homeless. Through individual counseling,
education and goal setting, at-risk families can find alternative
housing or work out an agreement with their landlord. More important
than this are the skills and disciplines they learn to avoid these
circumstances in the future. Rental counseling isn't meant to be
a quick fix, rather our caring counselors help at-risk families
by restoring their hope, treating them with dignity and respect
and encouraging them to set goals to improve their lives. Each year
our counselors help over 80 families avoid the claws of homelessness.
Shelter to Independent Living helps homeless families find
housing and become self-sufficient through counseling, education,
and goal setting. Our counselors provide the tools and compassion
to help move homeless families from homelessness back into the community.
But more importantly, our counselors provide hope for each of our
families, and a new "lease" on life.
The victims of homelessness
are often single-parent mothers and children. Solving the problems
of families who are homeless is no easy battle. It requires innovative
and caring people. Shelter to Independent Living provides that mix.
Finding oneself homeless can create a cycle of helplessness for
families with no hope for the future. Tabor counselors are there
to restore that hope and help homeless families build their lives,
ending the cycle of homelessness for themselves and their children.
Each year our counselors help over 200 homeless families make difficult
life-changing steps on their journey to self-sufficiency.
